My article is about a new species of dinosaur that was recently discovered. That article was on USA Today. The title is, “Meet ‘Dracoraptor,’ a new species of dinosaur.” This is very interesting because if they are able to extract DNA they may be able to replicate living specimens. This could mean good or bad things for our world, but it is still very interesting.

I got my article on USA Today. It is about the DOW being down. One problem is that,”Oil prices slumped on Friday and broke below the key $30-a-barrel level, as concerns about Iranian supplies adding to a global surplus kept the market under pressure. Global markets are selling off with the Shanghai Composite now in a bear market.” The stock market could be leading to a crash if it does not pick-up soon. Here is what happened to DOW,”Around 11 a.m. ET, the Dow Jones industrial average was down about 400 points, or 2.5%, dipping back below 16,000 for the first time since August. The Standard & Poor’s 500 index dropped 2.4% and the Nasdaq composite index tumbled about 3.1%. Both indexes were also off their earlier lows.” This is very dangerous to our country and our world as to the fact that we trade with numerous countries around the world.

My article is from USA Today and its title is, “Afghanistan — the case for staying: Michael O’Hanlon.” Michael O’Hanlon presents a very good argument as to why we should keep our military in Afghanistan. O’Hanlon states, “The security situation in Afghanistan is bad. Yet it is hardly catastrophic. For example, Afghan security forces let Kunduz fall, but then they retook it within a couple weeks. They also repulsed coordinated Taliban probes against a number of other regional centers in the immediate aftermath of the Kunduz disaster. Earlier in the year, moreover, the Afghan army planned and conducted three major operations essentially on its own, two of them involving multiple corps (each corps is about 25,000 strong, and each has specific geographic responsibilities). The Taliban remains resilient and has gained some net holdings this year — but probably not more than 3% to 5% of the country as measured by affected population.” This was just one of his great points. Here is the link for the article: http://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2015/12/28/afghanistan-obama-troops-withdraw-islamic-state-column/77795296/
I do agree with O’Hanlon while maintaining the idea that we should also keep our homelands security in mind when deploying troops.

My topic is about Alabama’s running back Derrick Henry. The title is, “Heisman Watch: It’s Derrick Henry’s award to lose.” This is from USA Today. Henry is in position to win the Heisman this year. He has had a exceptional year for Alabama and shows no sign of slowing down heading into playoffs. Alabama who is going to win the national championship will also hopefully have a Heisman winner as well. This really only effects the nation because it pertains to U.S. football.

My topic is about the Mali hostages being freed. I got this article on USA Today. The title is, “Hostages freed as Mali hotel siege ends; at least 3 dead.” The raddison blu hotel was taken over by Islamic extremeist who held close to 170 people hostage for 7 hours. The Malian forces were aided by U.S. and French Special Forces. The teams went floor by floor to retake the building. This makes me mad as it demonstates the growing effects of Islamic terrorism. We need to start a world wide campain to rid the world of this problem. This has around the 5th attck related to Islamic terror groups this month. This problem is grestly affecting the world, so I don’t understand why truly nothing is being done about it. Do we really not care?

The topic of my article is a Star Wars waffle maker. I got this article on USA Today. The title is,”Eat the Dark Side With This Death Star Waffle Maker
That’s no moon… it’s a waffle.” The waffle maker makes a death star waffle. It will cost $39.99. It is made by ThinkGeek. It effects me because I will get one for Christmas. There is a new Star Wars movie coming out in December which effects the world because it will be shown world wide. I personally will go see this movie when it comes out because I love the Star Wars series. The waffle maker makes 7 inch waffles which is a fairly good sized waffle. There is also a line of light-saver themed cutlery.
