“Where you have the most armed citizens in America, you have the lowest violent crime rate. Where you have the worst gun control, you have the highest crime rate.” Ted Nugent. The top three states strictest gun laws are California, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. All three of these states have some of the highest crime rate cities in the United States.

Why would you take a person’s only defense against crime aside from law enforcement. The average response time for a 911 call is 10 minutes. “The guy could shoot me and be 5 minutes down the road by the time responders are on the scene, says Jacob Young.” If Jacob had had a concealed handgun, he could have saved himself and detained the criminal for the authorities.

Without citizens having guns the government can basically do whatever they want. The citizens then have no line of defense from foreign or domestic threats. This could lead to a rise in black market guns (which are not usually safe), rise of gang and non-gang  violence, and loss of industry jobs. Strict gun control could literally cause a civil war or a revolution of government vs. citizens.

Lastly, think about your family and loved ones. An estimated 3.7 million home invasions occurred each year on average from 2003 to 2007. This number is growing. According to the FBI, the average dollar loss per home invasion in the U.S. is $2,185. When you couple the victim’s losses with criminal justice expenditures, a typical home invasion is estimated to cost nearly $20,000. Let me tell you this, you can buy a shotgun for a few hundred dollars. A small cost compared to the physical and emotional cost you will pay.

I leave you with this thought. Will you protect yourself, your family,and your country or will you be a person who voted to give your right to own protection to the government. Think about this before you decide to vote for strict gun control.
